FEBRUARY 15TH
Touchet Indians basketball season came to an end with a 72-57 loss to Garfield-Palouse at the Southeast 1B District Tournament in Colfax tonight. Matt Kates scored 18 points, and Jake Hodnefield scored 17 in the Senior's last basketball game for Touchet. Touchet finished 6-10 in league play. They had a really good year this year. they came on strong in the second half of the season going winning 5 league games in a row to close the regular season out strong. Thanks for a great year guys!!!
FEBRUARY 10TH
DISTRICT, ROUND 1
The boys had a hard time getting thru the lid on the basket tonight as they fell to St. John, 62-46, in the first round of District playoff in St. John. The Indians had the shots, they were good shots too, but all they seem to do was bang around the rim and fall out. Jake Hodnefield and Matt Kates both scored 15 points on the night, while Vicente Flores contributed 9. Then freshman Ruben Butler took the air out of the St. John’s victory momentarily buy sinking a hail-mary 3 at the end-of-game buzzer.
The Indians next head to Colfax for an elimination game versus Garfield-Palouse or Colton on Tuesday, Feb 15th, at 7.30.
Good Luck Boys
Jake for the bucket, and the foul Ruben Butler for the three! It's good!!!
FEBRUARY 5TH
What the... a winning streak??!!!! The Indians made it FOUR-IN-A-ROW tonight with the 38-32 victory over the Nighthawks of Tekoa-Oaksdale, in of all places, Oaksdale. This was the 5th league win in a row for the boys. The Indian victory locked in the number 5 seed in the SE 1B division. That sets up a match with St. John-Endicott, in Endicott on Thursday, February 10th. Time to be determined, but as soon as it is available, it will be posted here. It was a tough-fought, highly emotional game for the Tribe. Congratulations on a great season, keep it up.
FEBRUARY 4TH
Three in a row!!! In what was probably the best game I have seen the boys play all season, the Indians secured a playoff spot with a lopsided 56-35 victory over Pomeroy tonight. The win was especially satisfying for seniors Jake Hodnefield, Mate Kates, and Joey Weber, as it was senior night tonight. The Indians try to improve their playoff standing by traveling to Oaksdale tomorrow, Feb 5th, to take on the Nighthawks. Congratulations Boys!!!

JANUARY 29TH
Let's go for TWO!!! The boys, tonight, made it two in a row with the exciting victory over Gar-Pal 38-36. It was tied with 4 seconds left when Matt Kates went to the free-throw line to sink both ends of a 1-on-1 to seal the victory. God, these close games are going to kill me. The Indians are 4-8 in league and 6-11 overall. Pomeroy comes to town next Friday, Feb 4th. Keep it going guys!!!
JANUARY 28TH
Pink was in the air tonight as the teams honored breast cancer awareness month. Maybe Touchet should change their school colors to pink...naw. The boys, who were behind at half by 9 points, rallied back to defeat the Lacrosse-Washtucna Wildcats 52-45!!. It was raining "3's" for a good part of the night with the boys draining 9 of them. The Indians take the long bus ride to Palouse on Saturday, the 29th to take on the Gar-Pal Vikings. Great game guys!!!
JANUARY 25TH
The boys traveled to Waitsburg today to take on the Waitsburg-Prescott Cardinals/Tigers .(Ligars, their pretty much my favorite animal), and thought they started strong, the #7 state ranked 2B W-P pulled ahead in the second quarter and never looked back. Touchet fell 80-41. Their next game is a home affair with Lacrosse-Washtucna this Friday, the 28th.
JANUARY 22ND
Just when you thought things for the Indians couldn't get worse, Colton, the number 2 team in the league, comes to town. But the boys didn't pay any attention to records or whispers and came in and got the job done. The Indians took down the Wildcats 57-44 in DOUBLE OT. WHOO HOOO!!! The Indians play at Waitsburg-Prescott on Tuesday the 25th. Keep it going guys!!
JANUARY 21ST
UGH!! A long trip to St. John ended in disappointment as the Indians lost a heartbreaker 43-42. Join us tomorrow, Jan 22nd as Colton comes to town. Games start at 2:00 PM

JANUARY 18TH
The boys took their shortest road trip of the year to Liberty-Christian school in Richland, and, again, came home on the short end of the stick, 65-40. Next game is Friday at St. John.
JANUARY 15TH
The 14-1 Rosalia Spartans came to town today, and took the victory from the Indians 52-27. Touchet plays next Tuesday, Jan 18th, at Liberty Christian.
JANUARY 14TH
The boys had a lead going into the 4th quarter of tonight's match against Tekoa-Oaksdale, but got outscored 25-11 in the final period to fall 57-49. The boys play again tomorrow night against Rosalia in Touchet.
JANUARY 11TH
A make-up game was snuck into the schedule for today. The basketball teams traveled to Lacrosse to play a game that was originally scheduled for December 18th. The boys once again came up a hair short in this match by a score of 57-54. The Indians really do play again on the 14th at home.
JANUARY 8TH
Touchet traveled to Pomeroy today, and played a great game. The boys came up 1 point short with a 48-49 loss. The Indians play at home against Tekoa-Oaksdale on Friday, Jan 14th.
JANUARY 7TH
Gar-Pal came to town tonight. This game turned out to be one of the most intense games I've seen this year, and Touchet matched basket with basket with the Vikings, but just couldn't quite get the last shot to fall. The Indians lost 44-42. The teams traded leads back and fourth all night. I thought the boys showed a lot of hustle last game, but they really stepped up the intensity tonight, but they just fell shy. The Indians travel to Pomeroy tomorrow, Jan 8th to take on the Pirates in a league match.

JANUARY 4TH
Waitsburg-Prescott came to town for a make up game today. But Touchet, again, ended up on the short end of the stick by losing 56-33. In what the W-P coach described as "the scrappiest team we've faced all year", the boys show alot of hustle and guts, but just couldn't muster the victory. The boys play Friday, Jan 7th, against league rival Garfield-Palouse at home.

DECEMBER 22ND
Touchet hosted Sunnyside-Christian today, but unfortunately came up short by losing 62-42. After Christmas break, they return to action on January 4th by hosting a make-up game with Waitsburg-Prescott. Games start at 3:00 pm.
DECEMBER 18TH
Thanks to Mother Nature, the L-W game has been cancelled. No makeup date has been set.
DECEMBER 17TH
Touchet played Colton tough tonight, but came away short with a 61-56 loss. They turn around and travel to Lacrosse-Washtucna tomorrow, the 18th.
DECEMBER 14
The boys traveled to Helix today, and gave the Grizzlies a good whoopin', 75-32. Touchet notched their 3rd win of the season with that victory. The boys travel to Colton on Friday, the 17th.
DECEMBER 10TH AND 11TH
On Friday, December 10th, the boys made the long trip, (did i say long), to Rosalia, and came home defeated 29-69. But turned around on Saturday the 11th and beat the visiting St. John Eagles in a last second shot by senior Joey Weber for a final of 34-32. Touchet does a lot of traveling next week with a trip to Helix on Tuesday, on to Colton on Friday, and a long bus ride to Lacrosse on Saturday.
DECEMBER 7TH
The boys started their season on a high note tonight by defeating the Helix Grizzlies 56-51. The game was fast paced and pretty exciting at time, (sometimes more than I prefer). The Indians open the regular season this Friday at Rosalia, then here Saturday against St. John. Great job guys!!!

Matt Kates goes up with the jumper for 2!!
